El Rey by Antonio Dorado Z., with Fernando Solorzano, Cristina UmanaWeekend highlights at the Los Angeles International Latino Film Festival, currently being held at the Egyptian Theater complex on Hollywood Boulevard, include Antonio Dorado Z.’s El Rey / The King (Friday, 7:00p.m., at the Spielberg Theatre, and Saturday, 11:30p.m., at the the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre), a fictional tale about Pedro Rey, Colombia’s first drug lord; Sérgio Machado’s Brazilian production Cidade Baixa / Low Town (Saturday, 5:15p.m., at the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre), the story of a dangerous love triangle involving a boxer, a O Casamento de Romeu e Julieta (2005) directed by Bruno Barreto, starring Marco Ricca, Luana Piovani, Luiz Gustavostripper, and a thief; Roberto Gavaldón’s Academy Award-nominated 1960 Mexican classic Macario (Sunday, 2:45p.m., at the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre), starring Ignacio López Tarso in the title role; and Bruno Barreto’s O Casamento de Romeu e Julieta / The Marriage of Romeu and Julieta (Sunday, 6:30p.m., at the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre), a Brazilian comedy of manners about fanatics of the soccer kind.
