"Still unseen by the general public as the year comes to a close, Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood dominated indieWIRE’s annual survey of more than 100 North American film critics. Set for a limited U.S. release starting next week, the exceptional fifth feature by P.T. Anderson was named best film of the year in indieWIRE’s poll of 106 film critics. Notably, the film topped five categories: Anderson was singled out for best director and best screenplay, while Daniel Day-Lewis‘ role as oil man Daniel Plainview was named the best performance of 2007 and Robert Elswit was singled out for best cinematography."

No Country for Old Men by Joel and Ethan Coen
Syndromes and a Century by Apichatpong Weerasethakul
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days by Christian Mungiu

Paul Thomas Anderson’s oil epic was the Los Angeles Film Critics‘ top film of 2007. Daniel Day-Lewis has also received several accolades, most recently a SAG Award nomination. In fact, at this stage he and George Clooney are the two top candidates for the 2007 best actor Oscar.
