Michel Gondry's latest brainy film entry, The Science of Sleep, stars two of the warmest, most personable, and most affecting actors working in movies today, Gael García Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Without them, Gondry's mess of a film would have been insufferable. With them, The Science of Sleep gets a much-needed touch of humanity, though it still lacks a sense of both reality and dreaminess.
