Capote Wins Scripter Award
by Andre Soares

Capote, directed by Bennett Miller and adapted to the screen by Dan Futterman, has won the University of Southern California’s 18th annual Scripter Award, which is given to the year’s best film adaptation of a book, novella, or short story, in this case Gerald Clarke’s 1988 biography of the flamboyant writer Truman Capote (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, In Cold Blood). Both screenwriter and author will share the award.
Capote, by the way, won after a run-off vote, for it had initially tied with Stephen Gaghan’s Syriana. Via Reuters/The Hollywood Reporter.
