Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe in BODY OF LIES Trailer
by Andre Soares
Directed by Ridley Scott and adapted by Academy Award winner William Monahan from Washington Post columnist David Ignatius‘ 2007 novel, Body of Lies follows a CIA operative (Leonardo DiCaprio) attempting to capture a major Islamic terrorist leader. Out of a Washington suburb, his potentially untrustworthy boss (Russell Crowe, making his fourth appearance in a Ridley Scott picture) guides him throughout the operation. Also in the cast: Mark Strong, Golshifteh Farahani, Simon McBurney, Carice van Houten, and Oscar Isaac.
The buzz surrounding Body of Lies is that it’s a strong Oscar 2009 contender. Whether the film is actually any good is a whole different matter. Ridley Scott turned into a slick, glitzy, superficial filmmaker in the early 1990s, but there are some who appreciate that sort of talent. Scott, after all, was nominated for a best director Oscar for both Gladiator (2000) and Black Hawk Down (2001) — two of the most bombastic, pretentious, and tedious movies I’ve ever seen. Additionally, American Gangster, which he directed last year, received its share of positive notices and was considered a potential best picture contender. The film, however, failed to make the cut.
William Monahan wrote the screenplay for the Academy Award-winning The Departed, and also penned Scott’s poorly received Kingdom of Heaven.
"Of course it’s a political film," Scott told USA Today. Ignatius "has this great knowledge about what makes the Arab tick and what makes us tick, and how we misinterpret and underestimate each other." Hopefully, the film’s "us" and "the Arab" ticking will be more nuanced than Scott’s statement.

From the first time when going through the movie felt it was well made characteristic
Movie based on Leonardo DiCaprio had done his part extremely at his best. Body of Lies has his own vision of explanation. Wonderful to watch till the end unlike other war movies it is running slowly and made it mark with grate peace of directing.
Apparently Ridley Scott enjoys working with Russell Crowe; and he likes to make movies that raise international awareness (i’m thinking Blackhawk Down and Kingdom of Heaven)… that’s a good thing i’d say
