Christina Ricci, Robert Pattinson, Bel Ami
The American Bel Ami trailer, prominently featuring Robert Pattinson, has been launched online. (Please scroll down.) It looks exactly — or rather, almost exactly like the British Bel Ami trailer released last December. The one difference that I could find: The US version begins with the Magnolia Pictures logo; the British version begins with the StudioCanal logo.
So, as mentioned in our previous article on the Bel Ami trailer, instead of making romantic — and mostly quite chaste — love to Twilight’s Kristen Stewart, in Bel Ami we get to see Pattinson seducing (and being seduced by) the likes of Kristin Scott Thomas, Uma Thurman, and Christina Ricci. British stage veterans (but film newcomers) Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod directed this most recent movie adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s classic 19th-century novel about an impoverished but ambitious ex-soldier who, and I’m quoting from André Soares‘ Bel Ami article here, "uses his drive, his wit, and his penis to get ahead in life." And get ahead he does.
Adapted by Rachel Bennette, the R-rated Bel Ami also features Colm Meaney, Natalie Tena, Holliday Grainger, Pip Torrens, James Lance, and Todd Peterson. Bel Ami opens in the United States on June 8.
