Starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, David Slade’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse opens on June 30 in the United States and several other countries.
One of the reasons Eclipse is one of the most eagerly awaited movies of the summer is that it features Pattinson-Stewart-Lautner in a love triangle that involves kissing, selfishness, self-sacrifice, and sleeping together in a freezing tent.
Another reason is the war pitting the werewolves and the Cullen family against the newborn vampire army (click on the image above to enlarge it; Peter Facinelli can be seen going after a newborn). The army question is the work of the evil vampire Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard), who has created and unleashed the hungry newborns in Seattle. Victoria’s final objective is the destruction of Kristen Stewart’s trouble-magnet Bella Swan, a resident of the small town of Forks.
You know Bella will survive, as Breaking Dawn should start filming in the fall. Directed by Bill Condon, it’ll bring back Stewart’s Bella (causing more trouble), Pattinson’s Edward, and Lautner’s Jacob.
In Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling novel, the werewolf-vampire war takes place in the background — there’s no actual description of the carnage. That’s clearly not the case in the movie version.
