Gary Gilbert arrives with Jordan Horowitz for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards held this past Sunday evening at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Both Gary Gilbert and Jordan Horowitz were credited as producers of Best Picture contender The Kids Are All Right, a comedy-drama directed and co-written by Lisa Cholodenko, and starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Mia Wasikowska, and Josh Hutcherson.

A curiosity: Gilbert was nominated as one of The Kids Are All Right producers; Horowitz was not. Barring a handful of exceptional cases, only three producers per film are eligible to receive an Oscar nomination. The nominated producers of The Kids Are All Right were Gilbert, Jeffrey Levy-Hinte, and Celine Rattray.

The Kids Are All Right lost the Best Picture Oscar to Tom Hooper’s British period drama The King’s Speech. Best Actress nominee Annette Bening lost to Natalie Portman for Black Swan. Mark Ruffalo lost the Best Supporting Actor to The Fighter’s Christian Bale. And Cholodenko and co-screenwriter Stuart Blumberg lost the Best Original Screenplay Oscar to The King’s Speech’s David Seidler.
