Starring Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith, and Taraji P. Henson, Harald Zwart's The Karate Kid was the no. 1 movie at the North American box office on Wednesday, June 16. The remake of the 1984 drama starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita scored $5.22m according to figures found at Box Office Mojo.

The Karate Kid was down for the third day in a row, -6.9%. One more drop like this, and the film will fall below the $5m per day mark. Even so, it'll cross the $75m mark sometime today (Thursday), and will surely cross the $100m mark this weekend, despite strong competition from Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 3 for the kiddie market.

Next in line was the Ashton Kutcher-Katherine Heigl comedy-actioner Killers with $1.03m at no. 5 and Sarah Jessica Parker's Sex and the City 2 at no. 6 with $818k.

Marmaduke, about a talking dog with Owen Wilson's voice, was no. 7 with $762k, right ahead of Jake Gyllenhaal's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time's $759k.
