James Franco’s 127 HOURS Out of Top Twelve; Natalie Portman’s BLACK SWAN Still Strong: Tuesday Box Office

David YatesHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, with Daniel Radcliffe, Ralph Fiennes, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, was once again the no. 1 movie on the North American box-office chart on Tuesday, grossing $1.27m according to Box Office Mojo.

At no. 2, Disney’s animated fairy tale Tangled earned $1.25m, followed by the Cher-Christina Aguilera musical Burlesque with $712k at no. 3. Next in line was Edward Zwick’s romantic comedy-drama Love and Other Drugs, starring Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal, with $601k at no. 4.

Tony Scott’s Unstoppable, starring Star Trek’s Chris Pine and Denzel Washington, collected $500k at no. 5. Dwayne Johnson and Billy Bob Thornton’s Faster scored $400k at no. 6.

Todd Phillips‘ comedy Due Date, starring Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis, pulled in $386k at no. 7 while Paul Haggis-Russell Crowe’s The Next Three Days, up two spots, drew $287k at no. 8.

Rounding out the top twelve were DreamWorks’ 3D animated feature Megamind with $286k, Sngmoo Lee-Jang Dong-gun’s The Warrior’s Way with $259k, Darren Aronofsky-Natalie Portman’s Black Swan with $209k, Harrison Ford-Diane Keaton-Rachel McAdamsMorning Glory, back among the top twelve with $197k.

Gone from the top twelve on Tuesday was Danny Boyle-James Franco’s 127 Hours, which brought in $169k at no. 13.

Among the top-twelve movies, Black Swan had the highest per-theater average, the aforementioned $11,665. Morning Glory had the lowest, $87.

Also among the top twelve, Morning Glory posted the highest Monday-to-Tuesday attendance gains, +41%. Black Swan was the only one to go down on Tuesday — a minuscule -0.3%.
