
Jessica Alba, Little Fockers
Paul Weitz’s Little Fockers pulled in $7.71m at the US/Canada box office on Wednesday, Dec. 29, as per Box Office Mojo. The critically lambasted Universal comedy features Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson, Barbra Streisand, Dustin Hoffman, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, and Jessica Alba.
Up one spot at no. 2, Joel Coen and Ethan Coen’s Western True Grit, with Jeff Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and Barry Pepper, grossed $6.29m (estimate). True Grit finally passed the $50m milestone on Wednesday, Day 8. Cume: $55.65m.
Down one spot, the other Jeff Bridges movie on the top-ten chart, Joseph Kosinski’s TRON: Legacy, brought in $6.11m at no. 3. TRON: Legacy co-stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde.
At no. 4, Eric Brevig’s Yogi Bear, featuring the voices of Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake, drew $4.54m (estimate). The 3D animated featured was followed by Disney’s Tangled with $3.71m, up one spot at no. 5.
Down one spot, Michael Apted’s The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader scored $3.37m at no. 6.
Next in line were Rob Letterman’s Gulliver’s Travels, starring Jack Black, Emily Blunt, Amanda Peet, and Jason Segel, with $3.12m at no. 7 and Darren Aronofsky-Natalie Portman’s Black Swan with $2.58m at no. 8.
David O. Russell’s The Fighter, starring Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams, Christian Bale, and Melissa Leo, collected $2.43m (estimate) at no. 9.
At no. 10, Tom Hooper’s The King’s Speech, starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter, earned $1.73m (estimate).
Once again, no figures were available for Angelina Jolie-Johnny Depp’s The Tourist or the James L. Brooks-Reese Witherspoon-Paul Rudd comedy How Do You Know.
Daniel Radcliffe-Ralph Fiennes‘ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 grossed $1.47m (estimate), but it remains unclear if the David Yates-directed adventure fantasy is back among the top twelve.
Among the top-ten movies, The King’s Speech had the highest per-theater average, $2,474. The Fighter had the lowest, $968.
Also among the top ten, seven movies were up on Tuesday; three were down. The King’s Speech posted the highest Tuesday-to-Wednesday attendance increase, +10%. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader posted the highest drop-off rate, -9%.
