It was bound to happen: on Tuesday, Aug. 31, the Julia Roberts-Javier Bardem-James Franco romantic drama Eat Pray Love earned more money than Sylvester Stallone's violent actioner The Expendables at the North American box office, according to figures found at Box Office Mojo.

The Expendables has been doing surprisingly well on weekends, but on weekdays Eat Pray Love has been faring much better. This past Tuesday, however, was the first time the Ryan Murphy-directed drama actually beat — by a small margin — The Expendables: $1.057m vs. $1.053m.

To date, The Expendables is by far the more successful movie, having grossed $84m. Within the next two or three weeks, it'll likely pass the $100m milestone.

Eat Pray Love has taken in $62.39m. Chances of it reaching $100m domestically are all but nil.

The Expendables is also the more expensive of the two: $80m vs. $60m for Eat Pray Love.
