Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud’s Despicable Me, featuring the voices of Steve Carell, Julie Andrews, and Jason Segel, among others, was once again the no. 1 movie at the North American box office on Tuesday, July 13.

As per Box Office Mojo, Despicable Me took in $8.15m — an 8.3% jump from the day before.

This Tuesday, in fact, was a good day at the US/Canada box office. All but one of the top ten movies posted attendance gains when compared to Monday. The sole exception was the Nimród Antal-Adrien Brody effort Predators, which was down 9.3%.

Things also should improve on Wednesday, when Jon Turteltaub’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, starring Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Alfred Molina, and Teresa Palmer hits North American theaters. Every movie on the chart should go down one spot then.

At no. 2, David Slade’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse edged closer to the $250m box-office milestone. Following the addition of $4.51m, Eclipse’s total currently stands at $244.2m. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner star.

Another bit of Eclipse good news: after falling below the $1,000 per-theater average on Monday, the fantasy-romance was once again above that mark on Tuesday, with $1,010.

The no. 3 movie on Tuesday was Toy Story 3 (up a remarkable 22.3%). Lee Unkrich’s 3D animated feature voiced by Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and others, collected $3.42m.

Up one spot, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Chris Rock, Kevin James, and Rob Schneider’s critically panned Grown Ups was the no. 4 movie with $2.41m. (Over the weekend, Grown Ups was at no. 6.)

Down one spot, Predators, starring Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, and Laurence Fishburne, pulled in $2.36m at no. 5.

Next in line was M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, starring Noah Ringer, Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone, Nicola Peltz, and Shaun Toub, with $2.27m.

The Tom Cruise-Cameron Diaz Knight and Day earned $1.1m at no. 7. After going down on Monday, the spy caper once again lifted its head above the $1m per day mark.

The no. 8 movie was the Jackie Chan-Jaden Smith vehicle The Karate Kid, which grossed $837k.

Rounding out the top ten were Bradley Cooper’s The A-Team with $260k and Jay Duplass and Mark DuplassCyrus with $155k.

Among the top ten movies, Despicable Me had the highest per-theater average, $2,345; The A-Team had the lowest, $210.

Also among the top ten, Toy Story 3 posted the biggest gains from the day before, +22.3%. As mentioned above, Predators was the only movie to head south on Tuesday, down -9.3%.

Also: Lisa Cholodenko’s The Kids Are All Right, starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Josh Hutcherson, and Mia Wasikowska, grossed $67k at 7 locations.

Among the films listed on Box Office Mojo’s Tuesday chart, The Kids Are All Right once again had by far the highest per-theater average: $9,616.
