Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner: ECLIPSE Press Conference in Korea

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner at the Korean press conference for the upcoming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Robert Pattinson hasn’t been traveling the world this time around because he’s stuck in Los Angeles, as he’s appearing in Francis Lawrence’s Water for Elephants with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. (Pattinson should be present at the official Twilight Saga convention in Century City on Saturday, June 12.)

"The first impression was getting off the plane and seeing the fans, which was really amazing because they seemed to be excited, which was cool for us," Stewart told reporters after she and Lautner posed for what looked like an extensive photo-op.

"I have two favorite scenes in Eclipse," Stewart later said. "[The first] is the scene where Jacob and Bella kiss for real on the mountaintop before the big battle, and the scene right afterwards when she has to go face Edward and talk about it because he’s ‘heard’ everything that’s happened. And because for me it was … it was such a different mindset from the rest of … the series. It was a line that she finally crossed and … Bella finally surprised herself. She’s always so in control and so on top of it. She sort of micromanages her life. She’s kind of a control freak. … I liked having a moment when she … maybe made a mistake but is ok with it. And I really loved how quiet and understanding Edward was after that."

Stewart added that visiting Korea, despite the current political situation, was a priority because the country isn’t a "typical stop" in international press junkets.

The clip ends with Muse’s "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)."

Directed by David Slade, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse opens in the United States and about a dozen other countries on June 30. Melissa Rosenberg adapted Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling novel.

Also in the Eclipse cast: Bryce Dallas Howard, Kellan Lutz, Xavier Samuel, Dakota Fanning, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene, Elizabeth Reaser, Billy Burke, Daniel Cudmore, Anna Kendrick, and Jodelle Ferland.

Okay, I rarely comment but the things going on with Kristen Stewart got to me this week. I am a victim of rape and abuse as a teenager. I am now in medical school to become a pediatrician. I am a big Twilight fan and as most I love Kristen Stewart’s portrayal of Bella.

This week the media tried to hang a young lady for using her rights. Kristen is not one of the Hollywood starlets getting arrested for running down people. She is not out there whoring around with every guy in Hollywood. She has not gone to jail for assault or drunk driving, but she gets thrown under a bus for freedom of speech? I was utterly disgusted with the media coverage that her ‘slip up’ got this week. She described exactly how she felt when the paps take pictures. Rape has many different meanings and I think her word choice was fine. She should not have apologized because it was unnecessary.

Charlie Sheen has been accused multiple times of assault against women and he’s getting a pay raise and early release from jail. He’s on a primetime show and wins awards despite his bad activity. Why is it okay for men to do this and still succeed in Hollywood? A producer of Survivor is about to be charged for killing his wife and I didn’t see the media all over him this week. Every time I think women have come so far, we are thrown back.

All the blame can’t be on the male dominated media because women jumped on the bandwagon to put Kristen Stewart on the fire. There are many in the fandom that hate her because she may be dating Robert Pattinson. Maybe this is the reason that women don’t have fandoms. We pick the female stars apart, let petty feuds fly out of control, and ultimately make the fandom personal instead of about the thing that we were fans of in the first place.

Rape is up. Sentences and time served are down. Why wasn’t the NYC Rape Council out talking about this? I’m just really ashamed at the media right now and at my fellow females and Twilight fans for not sticking up for Kristen Stewart. When Robert Pattinson made the controversial comments about being allergic to vaginas, the fandom had his back. When Kristen Stewart compares people chasing her down with cameras to watching ‘rape’ which means ‘violation’ too, the fandom is either quiet or joins the fray against her.

This whole thing really just makes me sad. I just wanted to say my piece somewhere. Also I thought she looked lovely in Australia and Korea. She was also professional and didn’t let her personal problems keep her from giving the fans what they came for. Kristen Stewart didn’t let the fandom down. The fandom let Kristen Stewart down.
