Written by Brian Helgeland (of Green Zone), Robin Hood stars Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Max von Sydow, William Hurt, Oscar Isaac (as Prince John), Mark Strong, Danny Houston (as King Richard The Lionheart), Eileen Atkins (as Eleanor of Aquitaine), Mark Addy (as Friar Tuck), and Macfadyen (as the Sheriff of Nottingham).
Critics weren't all that impressed with the period adventure. Audiences in North America have demonstrated interest on the first weekend, even though the costly Universal production opened below expectations in second place (after Iron Man 2). Robin Hood is performing better at the overseas box office.
