Directed by Bill Condon, and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the final installment of the über-popular Twilight Saga franchise about vampires, humans, and werewolves in love, will be released on November 16, 2012, Summit Entertainment has announced.

That’s nearly four years after the first Twilight broke into the global cinematic consciousness on Nov. 21, 2008, making stars out of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as the half-undead/half-nearly-dead couple. (I mean, Stewart’s Bella Swan almost gets bumped off just about every time you turn the page in Stephenie Meyer’s novel.)

Taylor Lautner’s stardom came later, in the fall of 2009, when The Twilight Saga: New Moon opened to record-shattering box-office figures.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, to be shot along with Part 2 in Vancouver and Louisiana next fall, is scheduled to open November 18, 2011, nearly 17 months after The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Eclipse, one might add, should be passing the $300m milestone at the domestic box office within the next ten days. No wonder Summit has chosen to stretch Twilight’s cash-cow endowments well into 2013 (DVD/VOD/etc.).

Adapted by Melissa Rosenberg, who has penned all the Twilight movies, Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will feature Bella (Stewart) as a (newborn) vampire, stronger than Edward Cullen (Pattinson) and even big, beefy, bulky Emmett (Kellan Lutz). She and Edward now have a daughter, a weird hybrid named Renesmee (I hope they’ll come up with a creepy cgi baby) who can transmit thoughts to people and who becomes the object of Jacob Black’s (Lautner) "imprinting" affection.

More bizarre stuff happens when the Volturi clan decides to make life miserable for the Cullen family, of which Edward — and now Bella — are members.

Renesmee is at the core of their concerns, or rather, she’s the perfect excuse for the powerful Volturi to get rid of the increasingly powerful Cullens, who also happen to be a threat to the vampiric(al) establishment because of their subversive ways — i.e., they don’t kill humans and have special "talents."

With The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, twifans & twihaters alike will have their last chance to cheer/sneer at Bella’s, Edward’s, and Jacob’s assorted entanglements. That should be an experience to be savored.

I am scared. Summit cannot get wigs and makeup right for these movies and they want to tackle 3D and CGI babies? I still believe Breaking Dawn should only be one long movie. Spacing them a year apart is just wrong. Summit is too greedy. People’s enthusiasm is already waning about these films. Breaking Dawn is not a good book and Rosenberg cannot write a film script. I am hoping Bill Condon can make it better. Bella is the savior and main character in the last book. There is also a huge chunk of Jacob. The imprinting thing would be bad press and people might protest, so I think they should change the movie so that Jacob doesn’t imprint on Nessie until she’s a teenager. She ages fast so it could happen. The way Meyers wrote it, it made Jacob seem like a creepy pedophile. Edward ends up being the weakest person ever. It’s just all around bad. Basically they will need an Oscar worthy script to save it. Two years seems like a long time to wait.

Brooke.Hey! Yeah,I read something about a CGI baby.I was thinking why CGI and then I realised it would probably have to be because of the rapid growth thing. It would be hard to keep up with, using real babies wouldn’t it? I hope Stephenie Meyer writes a sequel to breaking dawn.I want to see Jacob with a grown up Renesmee! That would be sweet. Who could play a grown up Renesmee?

stormy i completely agree with you. when people think of taylor lautner they think gorgeous abs. but i mean he’s not a piece of meat! anyway, i hope they do make renesmee a cgi baby. it would be tricky to shoot, but it will do something to show theyre good actors.

Yeah! The shirtless thing… But cc he’s so much more than that! I kind of feel sorry for him in a strange way,’cause everyone is kind of blown away by his physical presence…but I feel his passion is acting and his considerable talent is almost being overlooked because of it. Much as I enjoy perving at him,and I do…oh! I do, its the way he fleshed out the role of Jacob that really gets me.I think he’s gonna have to put the shirt back on so people actually realise how good an actor he is.He’s brilliant!

Yeah,I can’t wait.I think there will be some huge opportunities here for some really stunning visual scenes.I’m thinking of the second movie here with the Volturi face off.Unless it is visually very awesome it could come off as a huge anti-climax.It has such a huge build up in the book. The honeymoon scenes will be tricky. The Jacob and Renesmee scenes very very tricky. Can’t have Jake looking like a Pedophile!!!!
