Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner: Bella Swan and Jacob Black together in Eclipse
Film Independent has announced that the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival will feature the world premiere of David Slade's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on June 24 at the Nokia Theater at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and other cast and crew members are expected to attend the Eclipse premiere.
According to previous reports (including those found on this blog), Eclipse was to have opened at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Last October, the 7,000-seat Nokia held the debut of the Michael Jackson documentary This Is It.
Now, even though the Los Angeles Film Festival is using Eclipse to promote itself, the screening isn't actually of the public festival. In fact, Eclipse is described on the LAFF site as a "bonus by invitation screening." In other words, you can't buy tickets for it (and don't expect to get an invitation, either).
But considering that this year's LAFF will be held in downtown Los Angeles, away from the Los Angeles Westside for the first time in five years, the festival will surely need all the publicity it can get to attract Westside patrons. Eclipse is the ticket for that. (Westwood traffic can be chaos; but it's nothing compared to downtown LA.)
The 2010 edition of the Los Angeles Film Festival begins on June 17 with the LA premiere of Lisa Cholodenko's Sundance hit The Kids Are All Right, starring Annette Bening and Julianne Moore as two lesbian moms who (sort of) adopt the biological father (Mark Ruffalo) or their two adolescent children.
The world premiere of Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud's animated 3D Despicable Me, featuring the voices of Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Miranda Cosgrove, Danny McBride, Julie Andrews, and others, will be the festival's Closing Night Gala presentation.

Calling all film lovers in Los Angeles!
On May 15th, we will be creating the trailer for this year’s Los Angeles Film Festival, shooting interviews with people from all over Los Angeles about their passion for movies.
What moves you? What's your favorite movie, scene, actor or director? Your earliest memory of going to the theatre? Your favorite action scene? Love blockbusters, documentaries, obscure French cinema? Comedy, horror, drama? Whatever your passion, we want to hear from you.
We're not looking for actors. This is not a performance. We want you to be yourself. Tell us off the cuff and from the heart what you love, what you hate, what makes you laugh, what makes you scared, what makes you cry. Our mission is to express the diversity of people, opinions and films in Los Angeles while unifying them all under one common emotion: The passion for movies.
Dozens of these interviews will be cut together into a series of trailers that will screen before the films at the festival.
We are looking for volunteers, there is no pay but it is a great opportunity.
To sign up, email with the information below. If you're selected, we'll contact you with all the specifics.
Please submit by Friday May 7th.
