Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart: Edward and Bella in a romantic scene in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) in another romantic, beautiful screenshot from David Slade's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Javier Aguirresarobe is the film's accomplished cinematographer. Both the indoor and the outdoor scenes found in the Eclipse trailers are beautifully arty.

Eclipse's predecessor, The Twilight Saga: New Moon broke opening-day box-office records in North America, earning more than $72m in the US/Canada in fall 2009. Don't be too surprised if Eclipse beats that record. In fact, don't be too surprised if Eclipse beats The Dark Knight's record (about $158m) for best debut weekend ever in North America.

Those figures haven't been adjusted for inflation. But as has been pointed out elsewhere at Alt Film Guide, movies in the past didn't open at 2,000, 3,000 or 4,000 locations like in the last couple of decades. So, of course movies released in the last decade or so will have a much better chance of reaching the widest possible audience right away — if they don't, they disappear rather quickly, especially now that the DVD/VOD route has been shortened.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will open in the United States on June 30. Melissa Rosenberg adapted Stephenie Meyer's bestselling novel.

Also in the Eclipse cast: Bryce Dallas Howard, Kellan Lutz, Xavier Samuel, Dakota Fanning, Peter Facinelli, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone, Billy Burke, Ashley Greene, Elizabeth Reaser, Gil Birmingham, Kirsten Prout, Jodelle Ferland, Michael Welch, Cameron Bright, Anna Kendrick, and Catalina Sandino Moreno.

Kristen is the only girl whose pics I see that make me want her! I'll squeeze in between le Robsten. The theaters may need to have some oxygen masks on hand when this scene plays on Imax. Hot, hotter, hottest E/B yet. I can't wait for Isle Esme.
