Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
From the world premiere of David Slade's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles:
About the "tent scene," in which freezing Bella (Kristen Stewart) sleeps next to steamy Jacob (Taylor Lautner) while cold-blooded Edward (Robert Pattinson) watches, Stephenie Meyer told MTV that it had to be reshot because of what amounted to a blocking technicality: When Stewart lay next to Lautner, Lautner didn't embrace her. Hence, the reshoot.
Regarding work on Midnight Sun, Meyer said that "I want to write with joy," adding that writing about vampires has turned into "homework."
Meyer once again lamented the fact that Midnight Sun was leaked because it would lead to comparisons with Twilight — Midnight Sun is narrated from Edward's point of view; Twilight comes from Bella. Additionally, the leak would have made the editing process more visible to those who had read the initial draft.
When asked if the anti-Twilight backlash bothers her, Meyer answered: "More than it should. … I have an extremely thin skin."
Meyer also said that most of the time she goes around "incognito" — one of the advantages of being an author. "This is all very awkward," she remarked about the madness surrounding the Eclipse world premiere
