Zsa Zsa Gabor in Critical Condition; Receives Last Rites

Zsa Zsa GaborZsa Zsa Gabor, 93, has asked for a priest to read her the last rites according to various reports. Gabor remains in critical condition at Los Angeles’ Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center following the removal of two blood clots and other complications resulting from hip surgery.

Gabor was initially hospitalized after breaking her hip on July 17. She’d fallen out of bed while watching the television show Jeopardy.

Born in Budapest on Feb. 6, 1917, Zsa Zsa Gabor was part of a trio of show biz personalities — there were also sisters Magda and Eva Gabor — better known for their jewelry, clothes, hairdos, marriages, divorces, talk-show appearances, and funky Hungarian accents than for anything they’ve done in front of a camera or onstage.

Gabor, the most celebrated of the three, is also known for slapping a cop, for a multimillion-dollar lawsuit, and for her 1993 exercise video "It’s Simple, Darling."

Among Gabor’s film appearances — not that many people know or care about these — are supporting roles in Lovely to Look At (1952) and Lili (1953) at MGM, and in Orson WellesTouch of Evil (1958); and leads in the cheapo sci-fier Queen of Outer Space (1958) and Picture Mommy Dead (1966), after replacing Hedy Lamarr.

Gabor has always been a firm believer in the Institution of Marriage. "I don’t believe in living in sin, so I always got married," she explained.

Gabor’s current husband — her ninth — is Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, the Duke of Saxony.

Former husbands include Barbie doll inventor Jack Ryan and Academy Award winner George Sanders (who later also married Zsa Zsa’s sister Magda).
