ALICE IN WONDERLAND Box Office: 21% Drop on Wednesday

Every movie among the top twelve on North America's box-office chart suffered double-digit drops on Wednesday, according to figures found at Box Office Mojo.

Alice in Wonderland grossed $4.71 million, its lowest single-day take and a 21.5 percent drop from Tuesday. Tim Burton’s fantasy adventure stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway.

At #2, the Paul Greengrass-Matt Damon Iraq War thriller Green Zone took in $946K, while She’s Out of My League was next with $822K.

Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, was #4 with $632K, followed by James Cameron’s Avatar with $608K.

Down one spot after a 27.7 percent drop, the Robert Pattinson-Emilie de Ravin romantic drama Remember Me drew $536K. At #7, Our Family Wedding, featuring Forest Whitaker and America Ferrera, earned $500K.

Rounding out the top twelve were Kevin Smith’s Cop Out ($375K), Antoine Fuqua’s Brooklyn’s Finest ($354K), Chris ColumbusPercy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief ($334K), Breck Eisner’s The Crazies ($320K), and Jeff BridgesCrazy Heart ($222K).

Among the top twelve, She's Out of My League had the highest drop (29.9%); as usual, Avatar had the lowest (10.4%). The highest per-screen average belonged to Alice in Wonderland ($1,265); the lowest to Cop Out ($130).
