Alice in Wonderland once again held the top spot at the North American box office on Thursday, March 11, grossing $6.766 million according to Box Office Mojo. Tim Burton’s fantasy-adventure blockbuster had a minuscule 0.1 percent drop from Wednesday. In its first week, Alice in Wonderland has amassed an impressive $146.6 million.
The film stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover (above), Matt Lucas, and the voices of Stephen Fry, Barbara Windsor, and Michael Sheen.
At a distant #2, Martin Scorsese’s dark thriller Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, took in $1.034 million (+6.6%), while James Cameron’s Avatar was up one spot with $789K (+5.7%) on its 84th day out.
Down one spot to #4, Antoine Fuqua’s Brooklyn’s Finest earned $786K (-3%). The cop drama stars Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, and Wesley Snipes. After one week, it has grossed only $17 million.
Kevin Smith’s comedy Cop Out, starring Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan, was next with $652K (+3%). Breck Eisner’s horror flick The Crazies, with Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell, was #6 with $529K (+3.4%).
At #7, Jeff Bridges‘ Crazy Heart earned $387K (+10.1%). Up one spot, Chris Columbus‘ adventure flick Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, starring Logan Lerman, was next with $306K (+12.8%).
Following right behind, Garry Marshall’s all-star Valentine’s Day was #9 with $304K (+9.4%). The romantic comedy stars Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Taylor Lautner, Eric Dane, Carter Jenkins, Taylor Swift, and many others.
Rounding out the top twelve were the Channing Tatum-Amanda Seyfried romantic melodrama Dear John ($248K, +13.5%), Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side ($178K, +15.8%), and Benicio del Toro’s The Wolfman ($145K, -0.6%).
