At #5, She’s Out of My League took in $1.9 million. The teen comedy starring Jay Baruchel dropped an okay — especially for this sort of movie — 43.3 percent from a week ago. It was closely followed by the Paul Greengrass-Matt Damon Iraq War thriller Green Zone, which fell to the #6 spot with $1.85m. The $100 million production suffered a steep 63.4% loss from last Friday.
Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, was next with $1.42m. At #8, the Robert Pattinson-Emilie de Ravin romantic drama Remember Me drew $1.25m, or 65% less than a week ago. Total after 8 days: $11.9m.
Rounding out the top twelve were Forest Whitaker's Our Family Wedding (1.15m), James Cameron's Avatar ($1.07m), Roman Polanski's The Ghost Writer ($550K), and Antoine Fuqua’s Brooklyn’s Finest ($490K).
The largest Thursday to Friday increase among the top twelve movies was that of The Ghost Writer (422.2%), thanks to the addition of several hundred theaters. That was followed by Our Family Wedding with 121.8%. Brooklyn's Finest had the lowest increase (27.9%).
At least partly thanks to higher 3D/IMAX ticket prices, Alice in Wonderland had the highest per-screen average: $2,656, followed by The Bounty Hunter ($2,489) and The Ghost Writer ($2,455). The lowest average belonged to Brooklyn's Finest ($253) followed by Shutter Island ($423).
