REMEMBER ME / Robert Pattinson: More Overseas Reviews

Robert Pattinson's REMEMBER ME: International Reviews

Directed by Allen Coulter from a screenplay by Will Fetters, Remember Me features Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, Tate Ellington, and Lena Olin. Note: We've found a few international reviews online, mostly from Brazil and English-speaking Australia and New Zealand. We're looking for more. Below are a few more — mixed — international reviews.

"If Remember Me does well at the box office, it will in no way be a reflection of the film’s merits. Alas, Twihards will no doubt flock to the cinema to ogle over this latest Robert Pattinson vehicle and not even notice how dreary and manipulative the story is. But credit where credit’s due, the marketing has done well to spin what is essentially an overwrought family drama into a focus on the frolicking shower antics between Pattinson (swoon!) and Australia’s Emilie de Ravin." Alice Tynan at TheVine.com (Australia).

"[Remember Me] overdoes the Pattinson closeups, featuring lovestruck and/or blank glances, sugary dialogue ("Our fingertips don't fade from the lives we touch"), and, trying to replicate the tears elicited by Titanic, sets up a supposedly moving climax. Ally and Tyler's romance, however, never reveals the depth it could have had. … [U]nfortunately, Remember Me is more interested in showcasing its final surprise than in character development or a more consistent plot." Alysson Oliveira at CineWeb (Brazil).

"Remember Me is the most dispiriting load of old wallop I've sat through this century. It's not just that the film is bad – there's plenty of bad films that I've loved from beginning to end – it's that Remember Me is completely fraudulent. … Pattinson is the sole reason this movie has ever made it into the multiplex. Without Pattinson, a film this pointless and infuriating could only have been (a) French and (b) on at the film festival." Graeme Tuckett at Stuff.co.nz (New Zealand).

"Those who go see Remember Me because of Pattinson's presence may actually enjoy the movie. Those looking for something more will probably be disappointed with the shallow screenplay and the uninvolving pace of the action." Celso Sabadin at Cineclick (Brazil)

"Pattinson sulks, smokes and stares at his feet all the way throughout this rather miserable drama about love, loss and fate, as if doing his best James Dean (who also had major father issues in East of Eden and Rebel Without a Cause). Now those are memorable films from a memorable actor. Pattinson – and his film – try hard but fail in comparison." Shannon Harvey in The West Australian.

It just blows my mind the number of jealous haters out there, and apparently many of them are critics. Those that have seen the movie, including myself, give it great reviews and commend Rob on his acting. On boxofficemojo it has a 71% grade A rating and only 17% giving it an F rating. The rest were in the middle. That's from people who have actually seen the movie, not too bad a rating imo. Green Zone really bombed but hardly anything is being said about that movie, it had a budget of $100 million and went way past that amount. Remember Me had a small budget of $16m.

Tyler didn't kill himself! Did you actually see the film? If you did then you didn't understand the end and I feel sorry for you. It was a great film! Well acted, beautifully sad story with an uplifting smile at the very end! The critics are all mad as the JD's Mad Hatter!!!

I saw the movie with an open mind and disregarded those critics that were negative about it. The movie got really good reviews from some of the more respected critics, like USA today and Roger Ebert, to name a few. Anyway, the movie was brilliant and my take on it was that it was a beautiful love story and a very touching tribute to the events of the time, a reminder that sometimes we get lost in numbers and forget that each and every individual that was taken during that tragedy had their own personal story. Robert's acting was amazing as was the other cast members. From those that have seen it there is about an 80% or higher approval rating. Rob deserves a lot of credit for the boldness he showed in choosing this script and making this movie. He could have played it safe and put out the usual mindless fluff that Hollywood mostly churns out, but he wants to be known as a serious actor who takes his craft seriously. He is not a famewhore like most of them and is not in the business just to make money, he wants to put out decent and thought provoking work, like Remember Me. To me the film isn't just about remembering Tyler but about remembering and honoring everyone that lost their lives that day. If you haven't seen it yet GO.

I get the impression from all the critics that have given negative reviews that they are trying to tear Robert pattinson down. I saw the movie and I thoght it was great. I would recommend it to anyone. Don't listen to the critics, go and judge for yourself. I identified with three of the issues portrayed in the movie and the reaction I had with some of the events that occurred in the movie were very similar to those that I had in real life. Some were gut punches and thats how they were in real life. I believe one critic said "completely fraudulent". If I have identified with the issues then it can't be fraudulent. I didn't know what to expect when I went in but I was surprised, it is not like alot of the movies today which are action packed and use sex to sell. I enjoyed it alot and I took from it "enjoy and be grateful for what you have in life because it can easily be taken away"

No wonder Hollywood is so screwed up! They don't get the fact that real lives are complicated, messy and sometimes tragic. I am so sick of "critics" who wouldn't know reality if it bit them in the rear. I've already seen the Remember Me 3 times (yes, Pattinson is mesmorizing) but, more importantly I loved the dialogue, the various relationships and the ending. Each time I have seen it, it reminds me to remember what is important.

I saw the movie and was really hit home was the fact that my children lived that life. Their father was only interested in making money and his next conquest. He virtually ignored our daughter making her feel unworthy of his love. Our youngest son commited suicide and my oldest son disappeared for five years trying to deal with the loss of his brother. I thought the young stars play the loss of their individual family members well, but I didn't get why Tyler killed himself.

The movie is great! Diferent from the usual action-but-no-plot young people usually go for…And yes, "it could as well have been French", because French movies usually have interesting plots. At the exception of Lena Olin's, the acting is good. Rob is intriguing, as always; the relationships felt real. The movie was always about 911, but the critics don't seem to get it! They missed the point and should not be critizing anything!

Seems overseas critics are jaded, too. The script broke the rules, so did the event. Yes, Pattinson got it to the multiplex; bravo to him and all involved for a thought-provoking film.

I read the screen play and loved it and thought it to be really well doneI liked that this couple were just beginning to fall in love and I liked that the movie didn't rush that process as many do. If you don't like exploring relationships then you will not like this but I thought it quite well done and enjoyable.

Just through friends, I have recently heard of three suicides, all unrelated, all of young men 20-22 years old. It’s really sad, very sad. Remember me, really touched me in it’s authenticity. Tyler’s relationships with Caroline (the little actress was amazing) and Ally( also a solid performance) felt real. The ending reminds us all of the 100’s of personal tradgies we read about in papers after 9/11 These stories of these lives should not be forgotten. There was a possibility that this small movie may not ever have been produced if not for Mr. Pattinson…I hope more people will see it. Don’t listen to the bad reviews.
