Robert Pattinson's Remember Me has been getting mixed reviews overseas, much like those the romantic drama received in the United States. Directed by Allen Coulter from a screenplay by Will Fetters, Remember Me also stars Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper, and Lena Olin.
Below are a three snippets from British publications:
"While the casting for this film is on paper very strong, it turns out to be its fatal flaw, as a robustly-New York based script sees an Aussie and a Brit take the leads. While both Pattinson and du Ravin suit there [sic] respective characters well, there is something a bit too British about the former which holds the emotional character of Tyler back, and something instinctively laid-back about the latter which sees her do the same." Sarah Garrod at inthenews.co.uk.
"There is a lot to admire in the film: the star is good (Pattinson will have legs when he's done with Cullen), Allen Coulter's direction is more than competent and there's a nicely-chosen turn-of-the-millennium soundtrack (Sigur Ros, Ed Harcourt, Sparklehorse), yet it's not enough to make up for the thoroughly miserable tone or contrived ending. Spoiling the finale would just be rude, but it's the thing that absolutely kills Remember Me as a serious piece of drama." Simon Reynolds at Digital Spy.
"These 'seize the day' urgings seem out of tune with a film paced to chug to its destination with all the urgency of a Sunday train, but just when you are about to seize your coat, a sudden tragedy occurs, one that is supposed to stun you as a profound insight into bereavement but is really just a tacky exploitative coincidence." Siobhan Synnot in Scotland on Sunday / The Scostman.

I love Remeber me, honstly most Oscar nominated movis are nothing with Remeber me. I am still in sock
>>>>>>>>>So those three reviews were supposed to be representative of the ‘mixed’ reviews Remember Me has been getting? Then why are all of them negative?
True. Two out of three were negative. But the second one was mixed.
Those were the ones I found. I'll be looking for some more later this week, as the film opens in the UK on April 2.
If you have links to positive reviews from British publications, please send those our way. I'll be happy to post snippets from them.
Will wait for the TV screening. No biggie…
So those three reviews were supposed to be representative of the 'mixed' reviews Remember Me has been getting? Then why are all of them negative? I've seen some really good reviews of this movie so I know they're out there. But it seems only the negative ones are ever listed by 'objective' film reviews. And I do not understand why reviewers make it sound like the ending is tacked on or exploitative when it really isn't. It doesn't help either to try and make people think that if they like this movie and are affected by it that they are just sheep or not very intelligent. This is a great moving little movie that doesn't deserve the bad rap that so many critics are giving it. I wonder why so many of us moviegoers can see what the movie is trying to say and so many reviewers can't. Tis a puzzlement.
I loved Remember Me, and I found Rob
amazing! Rob don't listen to the crutics,
you have a wonderful acting career ahead.
I thought Remember Me was an excellent film with a well written script, beautifully enacted with a great cast, and providing lots to think about after leaving the theatre. What more can one ask from a film. I recommend it highly for males and females. Forget the critics, go see it and enjoy!

Hollywood has been exploiting historical events in films forever and in the most grotesque ways. How many wars movies, holocust movies, riots etc. Isn't it amazing a small little movie with a subtle reference to 9/11 cause such a stir among the self-important parasites oops I meant critics. The film doesn't even show anyting except a date on a board and view of the towers. OMG It's the end of the world. They are so full of CRAP it's laughable. I guess the "Hurt Locker" was exploiting the Iraq war and the 1.2 million murdered Iraquis then. They didn't seem to have a problem with that. They glorified it with awards. Phony Much!
I have seen the movie and i thought it was great..critics dont know shit!!! they always give bad reviews on movies and the movies r amazing!!!! They obviously dont know a good movie when they see it…so there opinions dont matter
sorry if that was too long
i'm sorry what do film critics even like?? i haven't seen remember me yet as i'm from Ireland and it doesn't debut here til 2nd of April, i'm gonna go see it with an open mind and not gonna pay much attention to these reviews because i like making my own mind up about things
also i think robert pattinson is a great actor and i like twilight but in the twilight movies he hasn't got a chance to show he can act beyond his brooding face and from the trailer of remember me it looks like he's going to be branching out and with films like bel ami and water for elephants and unbound captives coming out over the next few years there's just gonna be no pause in his career.
no actor can avoid type cast e.g hugh grant= romcom king johnny depp is a oddball in the majority of films so i hope rob finds himself in a genre he likes i think films with a deeper meaning would suit him more because he seems like a deep and intelligent guy
to be honest mr pattinson isn't really gonna care about negative critics opinions mainly because he's getting payed a higher salary than they ever would and also that he's going somewhere and they might be lucky enough to someday be a crap tv personality
basically people don't bother with the reviews about remember me just make up your own minds and at least go see it although even from the trailer it looks like it will be quite heavy so yeah.
The film is phenomenal! From the moment it started, I was completely lost in the characters and their lives. The ending is a fantastic tribute to New York and most that live there believe the same. The last line in the last review, (Scotland on Sunday), was just plain rude! There was no tacky exploitative coincidence and not many films have been created that actually humanize that piece of history. It's no chick flick, so be prepared, but do not miss this amazing movie!
The movie is so good and Rob is great in it. I hope it does well overseas. I just loved this movie – it is still with me – I think about it a lot. Best of luck Rob!
