James Cameron, Ivan Reitman: Oscar Nominees Luncheon Photo

James Cameron, Ivan Reitman

James Cameron talks to Ivan Reitman at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Oscar Nominees Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Monday, February 15, 2010.

This year, James Cameron is in the running for three Academy Awards for his work on the megablockbuster Avatar: Best Director, Best Editing (shared), and as one of the producers of the Best Picture nominee. Ivan Reitman is one of the producers of Up in the Air, directed, co-produced, and co-written by his son Jason Reitman. Cameron won a Best Director Oscar for Titanic (1997); Reitman, despite several highly successful directorial efforts — e.g., Ghost Busters (1984), Dave (1993) — has never been nominated in that category.

The 2010 Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, March 7 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center. In the United States, it’ll be televised live by ABC.
