In Oren Moverman's The Messenger, Ben Foster stars as Will Montgomery, a U.S. Army officer recently returned home from Iraq. Once on American soil, Montgomery is assigned to the Army’s Casualty Notification service, where he is partnered with fellow officer Tony Stone (Woody Harrelson) to bring the bad news to the families of dead soldiers. Eventually, Will finds himself drawn to Olivia (Samantha Morton), to whom he has just delivered the news of her husband's death.

The Messenger won the Silver Bear for best screenplay (Moverman and Alessandro Camon) and the Peace Award at the 2009 Berlin Film Festival.

The Messenger opens in the US on Nov. 13.
