Hugo’s Coups
by Andre Soares
According to an Associated Press report (via the San Jose Mercury News), Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez has stated he’s willing to assist British film producer John Daly on a film project about the 2002 coup that removed Chávez from power for two days. (Massive street protests reinstated him. Chávez, by the way, had been involved in another failed coup, several years earlier. The difference is that at that time, he was one of the coup masterminds.)
The report doesn’t specify if this John Daly - who referred to the populist Chávez as "a great man" - is the same man who founded Hemdale in the 1960s.
