Nicole Kassell&#8217;s The Woodsman, starring Kevin Bacon (above) as a convicted pedophile trying to rebuild his life after spending 12 years in jail, won the Satyajit Ray Award as best first feature that &#34;reflects the artistry, compassion and humanity&#34; of the late Indian director. 
Tarnation, Jonathan Caouette&#8217;s autobiographical documentary about how his mother&#8217;s mental illness affected his childhood, was chosen  best first feature, while  British writer-director Amma Asante won the UK Film Talent Award for her début feature, A Way of Life, the story of a teenage single mother involved in an ethnic feud with a Turkish neighbor.
