Honorary Award recipient Roger Corman, the producer-director of cult classics such as House of Usher, Pit and the Pendulum, Tower of London, The Terror, The Raven, The Masque of the Red Death, The Tomb of Ligeia, The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, and Bloody Mama, arrives at the 2009 Governors Awards ceremony held at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland on Saturday, November 14.
Academy Award-nominated actress Sally Kellerman (in the supporting category, for M*A*S*H, in 1970) and Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston (also as best supporting actress, for Prizzi’s Honor in 1985)
Five-time Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, among whose credits are The Black Stallion, The Right Stuff, The Natural, and The Passion of the Christ

Behind the Motion Picture Canvas: MANHATTAN, THE BLACK STALLION Screenings
Woody Allen, Diane Keaton in Manhattan
Newly struck prints of Woody Allen’s Manhattan (1979) and Carroll Ballard’s The Black Stallion (1979) will be screened as part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ presentation “Behind the Motion Picture Canvas: Film Formats through the 21st Century,” which will trace the history and evolution of motion picture formats from the silent era through the current digital age.
"Behind the Motion Picture Canvas" will kick off on Wednesday, September 9, at 8 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The big surprise in this year’s ASC list was that critics’ favorites Christopher Doyle and Xiaoding Zhao were not included among the five finalists for their work in the Chinese films Hero and House of Flying Daggers, respectively. Roberto Schaefer of Finding Neverland was also another notable absentee.
On the other hand, the inclusion of The Passion of the Christ cinematographer Caleb Deschanel shouldn’t come as a surprise [...]
