2006 Sundance Winners
The 2006 Sundance award winners have been announced.
The Grand Jury Prize: Documentary was given to Christopher Quinn’s God Grew Tired of Us (right), which chronicles the experiences of three young Sudanese refugees trying to adjust to life in the U.S.
The Grand Jury Prize: Dramatic was presented to Quinceañera (above, with Jesse Garcia), written and directed by Wash Westmoreland and Richard Glatzer, who had previously collaborated on The Fluffer. Quinceañera revolves around a group of disaffected teenagers whose mostly Hispanic Los Angeles neighborhood becomes increasingly gentrified.
Juan Carlos Rulfo’s In the Pit, a Mexican documentary about the daily lives of those working on the second deck of Mexico City’s Periferico freeway, won the World Cinema Jury Prize: Documentary. [...]
