John August: Behind the Scenes Filmmaker Series
PRESS RELEASE:
Nominated for BAFTA’s and Grammy’s alike, screenwriter John August has been garnering attention for the past decade. He first received kudos for his multi-perspective indie film, Go, directed in 1998 by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity). A frequent collaborator with director Tim Burton, August has provided the screenplays for Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride. In 2007, he directed his first feature-length film, The Nines, based on his own script. August’s next projects include Dark Shadows, a stop-motion adaptation of Burton’s short film, Frankenweenie, and an adaptation of graphic novel Preacher with Sam Mendes attached to direct. A frequent advisor to the Sundance Screenwriters Lab, August also runs a web site aimed at budding screenwriters.
