Abdel Kechiche’s L’Esquive was the surprise winner at the 30th César du Cinéma ceremony. Set at a Parisian housing project filled with immigrants and their children, Kechiche’s low-budget film follows a withdrawn teenager (Osman Elkharraz) with artistic aspirations.
