The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that the official 2009 Oscar poster is now available for purchase. The poster features the Oscar statuette spotlighted center stage among the bright lights of the Kodak Theatre, a representation of the point of view that Oscar ceremony host Hugh Jackman, and Academy Award winners, presenters, and performers will experience from the stage of the Kodak come next February 22.
The Oscar 2009 posters — the only 2009 Academy Awards commemorative item available for sale to the public — will be ready to ship in late January with distribution of more than 50,000 copies worldwide.

Oscar 2008 Best Picture Poster
In celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the latest edition of its Best Picture poster — not to be confused with the official 2008 Oscar poster.
Designed by Alex Swart, the Best Picture poster features a spiraling gold ribbon containing the one-sheets for the (to date) 79 best film winners, forming the shape of the Oscar statuette. The 80th best film winner will be added on Sunday, February 24, right after the Academy Awards ceremony.
Swart, head of the marketing design agency SwartAd, designed the official posters for the 73rd and 75th Academy Awards, as well as previous editions of the Best Picture poster.

Oscar 2008 Poster

Christian Struzan and his creative team at XL Laboratories, Inc., designed and produced the poster for the Academy. XL Laboratories has also created poster art for a number of [...]

Personally, Veda’s convinced me that alligators have the right idea. They eat their young.
I vant to be alohhhn.
None of the above quotes, all three from movies nominated for a best picture Academy Award — the last quote actually comes from an Oscar-winning film — are to be found in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences‘ poster celebrating the 2007 Academy Awards. You will, however, find no less than two quotes from the dreary 1996 comedy-drama Jerry Maguire.
Jerry Maguire, after all, was directed by Cameron Crowe, and it stars Tom Cruise and Renée Zellweger, all three, for better or for worse, still very much in evidence. Indeed, even today you can hear people at dinner parties [...]
