Best Cast in a Motion Picture

Many consider the Screen Actors Guild’s Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture Award as SAG’ best film equivalent. Generally speaking, that ain’t true. A "cast," or "ensemble," is exactly what the name implies: a group of performers interacting with one another in a movie. SAG Award voters, whether when selecting their nominees or winners, have almost invariably followed that "Outstanding Cast = Outstanding Group Acting" concept.

SAG Awards 2010: Bleacher Seats Auction
PRESS RELEASE
The Screen Actors Guild Awards® online auction to benefit the SAG Foundation is offering Red Carpet Fan Bleacher Seats at www.sagawards.org/auction now through Jan. 11. This second auction in this year’s SAG Awards® three-part auction series features 90 seats from which fans can see their favorite stars walk the SAG Awards red carpet, take pictures and request autographs. Up for bid during the Red Carpet Bleacher Auction are 15 sets of two seats and 15 sets of four seats.

SAG Awards 2010: Ballots Mailed
Ballots to select the winners of the 2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards in five film and eight primetime television categories and for the SAG honors for film and television stunt ensembles are being mailed today to SAG’s entire active membership. Nearly 100,000 actors will receive ballots and may vote by mail or secure Internet eBalloting.
According to SAG’s press release, "votes must be received by noon PST on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at Integrity Voting Systems, where results will be tallied and sealed until they are opened by the presenters at the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® ceremonies on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.

Michelle Monaghan, Chris O’Donnell to Announce SAG Awards 2010 Nominations
Michelle Monaghan, who starred opposite Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible III and who at one point was touted as a potential awards contender for Trucker (above), and NCIS: Los Angeles star Chris O’Donnell, perhaps best known for playing Robin opposite George Clooney’s Batman in Batman Forever, will join Screen Actors Guild president Ken Howard to announce the nominees for the 2010 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The SAG Award nominations in five film and eight television categories will take place at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET on Thursday, Dec. 17, in the SilverScreen Theater at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood. SAG Awards 2010 Auction
The Screen Actors Guild Awards’ first of three online auctions to benefit the SAG Foundation will be held at www.sagawards.org/auction later today, Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009. Coming up in January will be the Red Carpet Bleacher Seat auction from Jan. 4-11, 2010, which will offer fans the chance to see the arrivals of the 2010 SAG Award nominees and presenters. The Ceremony auction to be launched Jan. 21-29 will feature one-of-a kind experiences and memorabilia donated by SAG nominees and their films and television programs.
