2004 London Film Festival Awards Winners

Nicole Kassell’s The Woodsman, starring Kevin Bacon (above) as a convicted pedophile trying to rebuild his life after spending 12 years in jail, won the Satyajit Ray Award as best first feature that "reflects the artistry, compassion and humanity" of the late Indian director.
Tarnation, Jonathan Caouette’s autobiographical documentary about how his mother’s mental illness affected his childhood, was chosen best first feature, while British writer-director Amma Asante won the UK Film Talent Award for her début feature, A Way of Life, the story of a teenage single mother involved in an ethnic feud with a Turkish neighbor.
