Fatih Akin, Wim Wenders Fatih Akin’s German-Turkish culture-clash drama Head-On was the Best Film winner at the 2004 European Film Awards. The Best Director Award, however, went to Spain’s Alejandro Amenábar for the right-of-dying drama Mar adentro / The Sea Inside, starring Javier Bardem, Lola Dueñas, and Belén Rueda.
