Tonino Delli Colli
On August 16, Italian cinematographer Tonino Delli Colli died of a heart attack at his home in Rome.
Delli Colli’s film career spanned more than five decades, during which he worked with most of the top names in Italian cinema.
Among his nearly 140 films are Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Mamma Roma (1962) and Il Vangelo secondo Matteo / The Gospel According to St. Matthew (1964), Alberto Lattuada’s La Mandragola (1965), Sergio Leone’s Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo / The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) and Once Upon a Time in America (1984), Marco Bellocchio’s La Cina è vicina / China Is Near (1967), Roman Polanski’s Lunes de fiel / Bitter Moon (1992), and his last film, Roberto Benigni’s Academy Award winner La Vita è bella / Life is Beautiful /em>(1997).
Tonino Delli Colli was 81.
