An e-mail I received earlier today:
Premiering today, the Center for International Disaster Information (CIDI) launches Lights, Camera, Action: Future Filmmakers for International Aid. This free contest asks America’s college and university students to develop a 30 second television public service announcement (PSA) to rally support for appropriate international disaster relief.
Students will have until May 12th, 2006to submit their completed PSAs for judging by a panel of experts that includes Emmy winning film producer, Chris Palmer, director of CIDI, Suzanne Brooks, and two representatives from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Five finalists will be selected by the judging panel and posted online for public voting at www.cidi.org. The winner will be announced on May 31, 2006.
By entering the contest, students will not only have the unique opportunity to create their own television PSA depicting the need for appropriate international disaster relief, but they will also have the chance to showcase their creative abilities, play an important role in making a difference in the lives of millions of international disaster victims and be eligible to win more than $10,000 in cash prizes.
CIDI is a non-profit organization funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It’s mission is to emphasize and communicate the value of cash donations as the most efficient and effective form of international disaster aid.
