'Nymphomaniac' Red Band Trailer Horrifies 'Frozen' Moviegoers?

'Nymphomaniac' 'sexually explicit' red band trailer shown at 'Frozen' screening in Florida? Horror Non-News Story of the Year

A “sexually explicit” scene was accidentally shown to adults and children attending a screening of Disney's Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee-directed box office hit Frozen, which features the voices of Kristen Bell and Josh Gad. Well, at least that's reportedly what happened at Regal Cinemas Park Place Stadium 16 in Pinellas Park, Florida. Now, first of all, bear in mind that “sexually explicit” movie content frequently refers to movie sex that's anything but explicit. It's just (sexually repressed?) people with lots of (kinky?) imagination, seeing body parts that aren't quite there. (See also: “'Nymphomaniac' Shia LaBeouf sex scene photo teaser.”)

Anyhow, due to “technical difficulties,” before Frozen was to have provided some Family Friendly Fun, the theater decided to show a Mickey Mouse cartoon, which may or may not have been Steamboat Willie, which may or may not have been properly copyrighted by Walt Disney Studios – but that's another story.

That doesn't look like Mickey

“In an isolated incident, an erroneously programmed 'R-rated' feature did start Friday evening in one auditorium at Park Place,” Regal vice president of marketing and communications Russ Nunley said in a statement. “Less than two minutes of this incorrect movie was shown before it was stopped.”

In other words: After a brief moment, instead of Disney's pathologically asexual Mickey, the Frozen moviegoers were treated to what may have been a (group) sex scene from Jean-Marc Vallée's Dallas Buyers Club, a generally acclaimed drama about AIDS patients rebelling against the (obscene, though not sexually explicit) drug conglomerates and their U.S. government stooge (the FDA). Dallas Buyers Club, which is currently also playing at Regal Cinemas Park Place Stadium 16, has just earned Jared Leto the Best Supporting Actor Award from the New York Film Critics Circle.

And here's the juicy (though way less likely) Frozen Florida Fable that has been reported as fact by publications that should know better (e.g., The Guardian, The Independent): The Frozen crowd may have gotten the chance to check out the ice-melting red band trailer (pure hyperbole, but that's serious journalism 21st century-style) for Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac, which does feature one split second of what looks like explicit sex. (In all honesty, whether that blink-and-it's-gone penis is real or fake, it's impossible to tell.) Shia LaBeouf and Stacy Martin are the performing actors, with body doubles doing the below the waist stuff.

Whether Dallas Buyers Club, Nymphomaniac, or Pietro Germi's 1966 comedy The Birds and the Bees and the Italians, screaming parents and children fled for their lives. (Okay, these stories can get a wee bit sensational. And never mind the fact that the Nymphomaniac red band trailer – which, by the way, is mostly free of sex, explicit or otherwise – lasts less than two minutes.)

As an apology, the theater management offered free tickets to those permanently scarred by the psychologically damaging “explicit” movie sex.

Wrapping this up, the Nymphomaniac story seems to be nothing more than a(n online?) rumor/joke that some have chosen to take seriously for obvious reasons. Update: U.S. distributor Magnolia Pictures has denied sending out Nymphomaniac's red band trailer to U.S. theaters.

Now, if offended by movie sex or sex in general, don't watch the Nymphomaniac trailer below. But then again, let's not forget that – much like FrozenNymphomaniac is a Christmas Movie; both films open in Copenhagen on Dec. 25, 2013.

Besides newcomer Stacy Martin and Shia LaBeouf – best known for Michael Bay's Transformers movies and recently seen in Robert Redford's The Company You KeepNymphomaniac features Charlotte Gainsbourg (also featured in Lars von Trier's Antichrist), Uma Thurman, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe (another Antichrist alumnus), Mia Goth, Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot all grown up), Sophie Kennedy Clark, Connie Nielsen, Udo Kier, and regular von Trier collaborators Jean-Marc Barr and Stellan Skarsgård.

And just wondering: Has Pinellas Park's Regal Cinemas Park Place Stadium 16 ever screened a Lars von Trier film?

Ok this movie has nothing to do with art.. Art is done tastefully n respectfully n doesnt smear it through two hours of genital smacking smut.. It belongs in the porn isle n behind the counter at 7 eleven… Not in a movie theater.. Freedom of expression thru film is great and is always welcome… Just as long as its done tastefully and not greasy.. This movie has greasy written all over it.. Maybe he would of done better cutting a deal with playboy or penthouse seeing how that is the industry he needs to sell this movie too.. What point i ask is he trying to prove? That he has an extreme sex fetish ? That he can show his copy and paste skills during a movie? Let me know when he decides to make an actual art film lol
