Best Visual Effects Oscar contender: 'Jurassic World' dinosaurs competing with plane stowaway Tom Cruise. 2015 Best Visual Effects Oscar longlist: Spies, superheroes and GMO dinosaurs Today, Dec. 7, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 20 movies are in the running for the 2016 Best Visual Effects Academy Awards.
