'Taken 2' vs. 'Argo': Liam Neeson Battles Ben Affleck & 'Frankenweenie'

Ben Affleck Argo movie weekend box office: Behind Taken 2 and Sinister? Oct. 13, '12, p.m. update: Ben Affleck's Argo opened in third place on Friday, having grossed quite a bit less than (the lower end of) early estimates (see further below). Starring Bryan Cranston and Affleck, Argo took in $5.93 million at 3,232 sites, thus easily falling behind both Taken 2's $7 million 3,706 locations and Sinister's – surprising – $7.45 million at only 2,527 sites according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. 'Battleship' Movie: Taylor Kitsch-Brooklyn Decker Sci-Fi/Adventure Bombs

Battleship: Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch May 19, '12, p.m. update: Brooklyn Decker has two box office disappointments opening on the same weekend: Decker is featured in Battleship and What to Expect When You're Expecting. For comparison's sake: Joss Whedon's The Avengers, at the start of its third weekend out, took in an estimated $15.3 million. Box-office prognosticators were expecting Battleship to gross […]

In The Avengers, Tom Hiddleston's Loki is the enemy (well, at least one of them); in John Carter, the enemies are mean, ugly sons-of-bitches Martians (I think); in the board-game-inspired Battleship, the enemies are robot-aliens suspiciously similar to the metallic creatures found in the Transformers movies. In fact, the Battleship trailer shown during the Super Bowl has a building collapsing much like what takes place in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. But in case you're too trailered out to […]
