Both movies opened way below expectations on Friday; in fact, official studio estimates released Saturday morning have them faring even worse than Friday night estimates indicated. Starring Taylor Kitsch, Peter Berg's Battleship raked in $9 million at 3,650 locations on Friday in the U.S. and Canada according to Box Office Mojo. That's about $500,000 less than early estimates.
