'Dark Knight' Movies Box Office Comparison + Colin Farrell Sci-Fi Remake Bombs

'The Dark Knight Rises. 'The Dark Knight Rises' passes $600 million milestone at the worldwide box office Sept. 10 update: The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie, is lagging far behind its predecessor, The Dark Knight, at the domestic box office. Outside North America, however, The Dark Knight Rises has far surpassed “Batman 2.” In fact, TDKR's international take has just passed the $600 million milestone overseas after adding $13 million in 64 markets. Marvel 'Avengers' Box Office: Ahead of 'The Dark Knight' & 'Star Wars'?

Marvel 'The Avengers' movie vs. 'The Dark Knight' June 29 update: Starring Scarlett Johansson (photo, as Black Widow), Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hiddleston, and Jeremy Renner, Joss Whedon's The Avengers movie has officially surpassed Titanic's original box office take. Back in 1998, James Cameron's romantic epic starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Gloria Stuart, and a gigantic iceberg cumed at $600.78 million. 'The Hunger Games' Movie: One of Biggest Debuts Ever? + Trailing 'The Dark Knight' & Beating 'Twilight'

The Hunger Games with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson March 26, '12, update: Gary Ross' highly successful film version of Suzanne Collins' bestseller The Hunger Games took in $152.53 million (including $19.75 million from Thursday midnight screenings) at 4,137 locations in North America this weekend, March 23-25, according to box office actuals found at Box Office Mojo. That's about $2.5 million less than Lionsgate's estimates released yesterday morning. The film's per-theater average was $36,871. Even so, as reported yesterday The Hunger Games had the third biggest debut ever in the U.S. and Canada in terms of box office receipts (ignoring inflation).
