The Dark Knight Rises has been rated PG-13 “for intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language,” according to various online reports. Now, that Christopher Nolan's upcoming Batman movie will get a PG-13 rating is totally expected, but at this point in time the only PG-13-rated The Dark Knight Rises listed on the Motion Picture Association of America's website is The Dark Knight Rises' Prologue. That's it.
The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20. A few weeks ago, Nolan reportedly screened a rough cut of the film to Warner Bros. executives. No word on whether or not the film is actually ready to be rated. The purported source for this news is a “Warner Bros. exhibitor's” site.
So, either the MPAA will release an official rating to The Dark Knight Rises on Monday, or … this is another “Gary Ross is out of The Hunger Games' sequel Catching Fire” even though Ross apparently remains a player.
Written by Nolan and his brother Jonathan Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises stars Batman Begins / The Dark Knight's Christian Bale, Les Misérables / Love and Other Drugs' Anne Hathaway, La Vie en Rose / Inception's Marion Cotillard, This Means War / Wettest Country's Tom Hardy, Looper / Premium Rush's Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sleuth / Alfie' Michael Caine, Driving Miss Daisy / The Shawshank Redemption's Morgan Freeman, Reuben Reuben / Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence's Tom Conti, and Pacific Heights / Full Metal Jacket's Matthew Modine.
