Actor Jeff Conaway, who played opposite John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in the 1978 blockbuster Grease, is in critical condition at a hospital in the Los Angeles area following an apparent overdose, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Conaway, 60, was also one of the stars of the popular 1980s sitcom Taxi, with Judd Hirsch, Marilu Henner, and Danny DeVito. In the series, he played actor/taxi driver Bobby Wheeler before leaving after the fourth season, reportedly because of clashes on the set.
Conaway later battled substance abuse, landing on reality shows such as Celebrity Rehab.
According to the Times report, Conaway is also suffering from pneumonia and remains unconscious.
Among his other films are Pete’s Dragon, Eye of the Storm, Sunset Strip, The Biz, and Living the Dream.
