Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese nominated as ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ producers: Oscar nominations
According to a press release from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the producers nominated for the Martin Scorsese-directed satire-drama The Wolf of Wall Street are the following: Martin Scorsese, Leonardo DiCaprio, Joey McFarland, and Emma Tillinger Koskoff. Scorsese and DiCaprio are now double Oscar 2014 nominees; Scorsese was also shortlisted as Best Director, while DiCaprio is in the running as Best Actor.
Update: Left out of the Oscar 2014 running is The Wolf of Wall Street‘s fifth credited producer, Riza Aziz, Joey McFarland’s partner at producing company Red Granite. Aziz, McFarland, and Koskoff had been the officially listed producers for the 2014 Producers Guild Awards; the Academy’s Producers Branch, however, chose to leave Aziz out while listing Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese in his place. According to Deadline.com, DiCaprio “worked for six years to bring [The Wolf of Wall Street] to the screen and got Red Granite — which fully financed the $100 million film — involved.”
Generally, the Academy allows only three individual producers to be listed alongside each Best Picture Oscar contender, but sometimes they make exceptions to that rule – as has been the case with The Wolf of Wall Street. Back in early 2010, Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Boal, Nicolas Chartier, and Greg Shapiro were the official nominees for the Bigelow-directed The Hurt Locker (Chartier was later barred from the ceremony), while the previous year Anthony Minghella, Sydney Pollack, Donna Gigliotti and Redmond Morris were all nominated for the Stephen Daldry-directed The Reader (both Minghella and Pollack received posthumous nominations).

Russell’s American Hustle, with Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, and Jeremy Renner; Paul Greengrass’ Captain Phillips, with Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi; Jean-Marc Vallée’s Dallas Buyers Club, with Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, and Jennifer Garner; and Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, with Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.
