Teen Choice Awards Winners

Much like at the People’s Choice Awards and the MTV Movie Awards, in which fans get to vote for their favorites, vampires ruled at the Teen Choice Awards 2010, held Sunday, August 8, at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles.

Robert Pattinson won no less than four awards (or rather, surfboards), one of which for not showing his fangs: Pattinson was the Choice Movie Actor - Drama for his tragic rebel/antihero in the late winter release Remember Me.

Pattinson’s fellow The Twilight Saga player Kristen Stewart also won four surfboards, including Choice Movie Actress - Fantasy for The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Perhaps because she can’t swim, Stewart didn’t show up at the ceremony. (Come to think of it, she’s currently filming On the Road under the direction of Walter Salles.)

There’s more: Taylor Lautner won four awards as well, including Choice Movie Actor - Fantasy in New Moon, in addition to awards for his abs (Choice Male Hottie), for his smile (Choice Smile), and for his clothes (Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon). I kid you not.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the Choice Movie, Fantasy, while two of its performers, Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, were voted the Choice Scene Stealers.

Other winners included Paranormal Activity as Choice Horror/Thriller; Avatar as Choice Sci-Fi Movie; Date Night as Choice Comedy; and Sandra Bullock as Choice Movie Actress - Drama for The Blind Side (which also won Choice Drama) and Choice Movie Actress - Romantic Comedy for The Proposal.

Megan Fox was the Choice Female Hottie and the Choice Actress Horror/Thriller for the widely panned Jennifer’s Body.

Now, where were all those teens when that major box office flop came out?

Posted earlier:

Twitter has been abuzzing. Sandra Bullock (for The Blind Side) – not Kristen Stewart (or Dakota Fanning) for The Runaways – wins the Best Actress Drama award at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards. Then Taylor Lautner, not Robert Pattinson, wins the Choice Hottie prize (along with Megan Fox, formerly of Transformers fame). What’s going on? Have Twihards turned into Twislackers?

Don’t bet on it. And remember, Taylor Lautner is very much a part of the Twilight realm.

Katy Perry and the Guys of Glee - Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling - are the evening’s hosts.

Justin Bieber and Diddy-Dirty Money are scheduled to perform at the ceremony (though Bieber was not around earlier today, accepting his trophies via satellite). His performance will probably be a taped show of some kind.

Also scheduled to be there in some form or other are Dianna Agron, Charlie Bewley, Justin Chon, Jon Chu, Chace Crawford, Nina Dobrev, Jimmy Fallon, Selena Gomez, Kiowa Gordon, Ed Helms, Joshua Jackson, Daren Kagasoff, Justin Long, LL Cool J, Jayma Mays, Seth MacFarlane, Alex Meraz, Lea Michele, Heather Morris, Bronson Pelletier, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, Emma Roberts, Christian Serratos, Adam Sevani, Ian Somerhalder, Taylor Swift, Jenna Ushkowitz, Michael Welch, Paul Wesley, Betty White and the cast of Pretty Little Liars.

The 2010 Teen Choice Award nominations were announced on Monday, June 14. Katy Perry will host the awards ceremony on Fox at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, August 9.

The Teen Choice Awards cover film, television, music, etc. Nominees range from the expected The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Avatar to Keeping Up with the Kardashians and America’s Next Top Model.

Needless to say, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Sandra Bullock, Sam Worthington, and Michael Jackson (for This Is It) were all nominated, in addition to the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal for Prince of Persia, Gwyneth Paltrow for Iron Man 2, and about 300 other people.

Voting is open to the public. In fact, the public can choose their favorites time and time again. As a result, the winners won’t necessarily be those with the most followers; expect them instead to be the ones with the most ardent fans. (That’s probably an important reason – perhaps the chief reason – why Kristen Stewart’s The Runaways nabbed a Best Drama nomination even though it’s a small independent film.)

Curiously, you won’t find any of the Teen Choice Award nominees on the TCA website’s home page, which seems to be dedicated instead to four different video ads.
