Who is the Monkey King? Chance to find out as Chinese animated classic to have West Coast premiere
The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven in 3D will be screened in Los Angeles courtesy of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the China Onscreen Biennial, launched by the UCLA Confucius Institute. The West Coast premiere of the Chinese animated classic will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood.
Described by the Academy’s press release as “a beloved classic of Chinese animation,” Wan Laiming’s 1963 animated feature The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven will be presented “after a painstaking and dazzling 3D makeover led by experts at Los Angeles-based Technicolor.”
The Linwood Dunn Theater is located at 1313 Vine Street in Hollywood. Tickets for The Monkey King: Uproar in Heaven in 3D are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid ID.
