Taylor Lautner thriller ‘attachment’ announced: Futuristic Incarceron & other Twilight-related news + Thor trailer & poster
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson have taken the indie (or “small movie”) route when away from Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. Taylor Lautner has thus far gone in the very opposite direction – what with Garry Marshall’s all-star Valentine’s Day, the John Singleton thriller Abducted, and the announced Stretch Armstrong (is that $7 million paycheck for real?). Now comes the futuristic thriller Incarceron for Fox 2000.
Deadline reports that Lautner is “attached” to star in Adam Cooper and Bill Collage’s movie adaptation of Catherine Fisher’s young adult novel. But will Incarceron get made? If so, when?
Well, according to the Deadline report, Cooper and Collage are currently writing Moby Dick for Timur Bekmambetov, in addition to an untitled “Moses” project for Fox and Peter Chernin. In other words, Incarceron can wait.

Below is a basic Incarceron synopsis, via Deadline:
Lautner will play Finn, who has lived his entire life on Incarceron, a savage, futuristic prison society. He meets the daughter of the warden, who is trapped in her own prison, a futuristic world constructed beautifully to look like the 17th Century. She knows nothing of Incarceron except that it exists. She and Finn simultaneously find a crystal key that allows them to communicate and hatch an escape plan for Finn.
Taylor Lautner is currently filming the two-part The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn under the direction of Bill Condon. Part 1 will come out in November 2011; Part 2 a year later.

‘Eclipse’: DVD bestseller – but trailing original ‘Twilight’ & ‘New Moon’
Back to Twilight Saga news: Directed by David Slade, and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was the bestselling DVD in the United States in the first week of December 2010, according to Rentrak.
One of the year’s biggest box office hits worldwide – $692.92 million – in its first two days out Eclipse sold approximately 3 million DVD copies. That’s a major feat, even though it means Eclipse sold about 1 million fewer units than either Catherine Hardwicke’s Twilight or Chris Weisz’s New Moon during the same two-day period (but in different times of the year).
“With the first two titles, we had massive March opening events involving thousands of retail stores,” Summit Home Entertainment president Steve Nickerson told Home Media magazine. “… We were going for a big bang, right out of the gate. This time we are releasing the film during the holiday season, a much more crowded time and one with vastly different consumer shopping patterns. So our whole plan is to look at what we’re doing over a four-week period of time, and not a single night.”
Below are a couple of other titles found at the top of the domestic DVD sales chart:
- Disney’s home video release The Search for Santa Paws.
- Disney/Pixar’s worldwide blockbuster Toy Story 3, voiced by Tom Hanks and others. Lee Unkrich directed.
Eclipse rental slot
On Home Media magazine’s rental chart, Eclipse landed at no. 3. Topping that list were the Sylvester Stallone explosion-filled The Expendables and Disney’s box office dud The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, starring Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel.
The Tom Cruise–Cameron Diaz actioner Knight and Day, a box office underperformer in the U.S. and Canada – relative to its $110 million or so budget – but a hit overseas, opened at no. 9 on the rental chart, as it can’t as yet be found at either Netflix or Redbox.
Christopher Nolan’s Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and DreamWorks’ animated blockbuster Shrek Forever After will have their DVD/Blu-ray sales tallied next week. Expect Eclipse to be obscured.

Remember Me with Robert Pattinson. If online reports are accurate, DVD sales have been strong for this box office disappointment starring The Twilight Saga’s centenarian vampire Edward Cullen as a rebellious James Dean type at odds with both his father (Pierce Brosnan) and his girlfriend’s father (Chris Cooper) in early 21st century New York City.
Robert Pattinson drama Remember Me sells more than 600,000 DVD units
In other DVD sales news, the Robert Pattinson drama Remember Me, which divided critics upon its early March 2010 release, has reportedly earned $11.03 million on DVD in the United States, with more than 600,000 units sold. The source for these figures is a site called The Numbers, whose focus is home video revenues.
If the Numbers’ figures are correct – the site itself offers little information about its sources – Remember Me DVD sales to date are equivalent to nearly 60 percent of the film’s North American box office take.
Released by Summit Entertainment in the U.S., Remember Me cost a reported $16 million, not including marketing and distribution expenses. Obviously due to Robert Pattinson’s popularity as a result of the Twilight Saga franchise, the film raked in $56 million worldwide.
Besides Pattinson, the Remember Me cast features Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, Lena Olin, and Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner Chris Cooper (Adaptation, 2002). Allen Coulter directed from a screenplay by Will Fetters.
Eclipse is most googled movie trailer
In the U.S., David Slade’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, followed by David Yates’ Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and the Robert Downey Jr. superhero movie Iron Man 2, were the most googled movie trailers of 2010, according to Google’s Zeitgeist report.
Like Eclipse, the next-to-last Harry Potter movie also boasts a trio of leads: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint – in addition to two-time Oscar nominee Ralph Fiennes (Best Supporting Actor for Schindler’s List, 1993; Best Actor for The English Patient, 1996).
Kristen Stewart not among Google’s ‘fastest-rising people’ & more weird stuff
Google’s “fastest-rising global entertainment topics” were chiefly related to music performers such as Justin Bieber, Shakira, Eminem, and Lady Gaga. Strangely, when you look for the “fastest-rising people,” you’ll find Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, and Kim Kardashian, who apparently aren’t considered “global entertainers,” as they’re not found on the previously mentioned list.
Two Twilight-related searches are among the fastest-rising “people”: Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson, with Transformers franchise actress Megan Fox – not Kristen Stewart – sandwiched between them.
In the U.S., Sandra Bullock and Jesse James were the most searched for celebrities in the break-up department.
In case you were wondering, the most searched global news topics included “Chile,” “Haiti,” “earthquake,” “oil spill,” and “Lady Gaga” – but not “Justin Bieber.” Weird.
Expensive Robert Pattinson meeting
And finally, a meeting with Robert Pattinson is worth $80,000. That’s how much a Pattinson fan paid to get together with the actor playing the amorous centenarian vampire on the The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn set in Vancouver, ET Online reports.
ET adds that the Pattinson prize “was offered on www.CharityBuzz.com to raise funds for the GO Campaign, a nonprofit group that supports grassroots projects for orphans and vulnerable children globally.”
The $80,000 bid is the highest ever for the GO Campaign – though that record will apparently be broken in the very near future by those bidding to meet Paul McCartney.
